The Preparation
Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat.
Cut a circle out of the center of the bread slice using a round cutter or glass.
Place bread and the cut-out circle in the pan.
Crack egg into the hole in the bread.
Season with salt and pepper.
Cook until egg white is set, about 2 to 3 minutes.
Flip carefully and cook the other side to desired doneness.
Serve with the toasted puck from the center.
