The Preparation
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Cream together butter, peanut butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla.
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
Fold in chocolate chips.
Grease a 10-inch cast iron skillet.
Press the cookie dough evenly into the skillet.
Bake at 350°F for 20-25 minutes, until the edges are set and golden but the center is still slightly underdone.
Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes.
Serve warm directly from the skillet with scoops of vanilla ice cream on top.
