The Preparation
Prepare & Microwave the Bananas: a. Peel and Slice:
Peel the banana(s) and slice them into chunks. Increasing the surface area by slicing helps them soften faster. b. Microwave:
Place the banana chunks in a microwave-safe bowl.
Cover loosely with a microwave-safe lid or plastic wrap (this helps trap steam for even softening).
Microwave on high for 15 to 30 seconds. Start with 15 seconds and check the texture; you want them just softened and slightly warm, not mushy. c. Cool Briefly:
Allow the microwaved bananas to sit for about 1 minute. This lets them cool just enough so they won’t shock the cold ice cream when blended but remain warm to boost flavor.
Assemble the Milkshake: a. Combine Ingredients in the Blender:
Add the softened banana chunks to your blender.
Scoop in the vanilla ice cream, pour in the milk, and add the graham cracker crumbs.
If using, add the banana liqueur and caramel sauce now. b. Blend Until Smooth:
Blend on high until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
Tip: If you find the shake too thick, add a splash more milk; if too thin, add an extra scoop of ice cream.
Taste and Adjust:
Give the milkshake a quick taste. Adjust sweetness or texture if needed by adding a bit more caramel sauce or graham cracker crumbs for additional flavor and texture.
Serve and Garnish: a. Pour:
Pour the milkshake into a chilled, clear glass to showcase its rich, creamy color and texture. b. Top with Whipped Cream:
Generously swirl whipped cream on top. c. Garnish:
Sprinkle extra graham cracker crumbs over the whipped cream.
Drizzle with additional caramel sauce.
Optionally, finish with a light dusting of cinnamon or nutmeg for that extra spice note.
