The Preparation
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
Add 2 ounces gin, 1/2 ounce maraschino liqueur, 1/4 to 1/2 ounce creme de violette, and 1/4 ounce fresh lime juice.
Shake well.
Strain into a coupe or cocktail glass.
Garnish with a maraschino cherry (the cherry juice adds to the purple color).
