A soft, everyday sandwich loaf with a golden crust, perfect for toasting.
8 steps, about 48 minutes start to finish.
Combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a bowl.
Add milk, warm water (110F), and melted butter.
Mix and knead for 5-6 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
Punch down and shape into a loaf.
Place in a 9x13 [approx] pan.
Let rise for approximately 50 minutes until doubled.
Bake at 350F for 30-35 minutes until golden.
“Knead until the dough turns smooth and springs back, which builds the structure that lets it rise tall. Don't rush either proof, since underproofed dough bakes up dense and squat.”
