Red wine gently warmed with cinnamon, cloves, and orange until fragrant and cozy.
5 steps, about 25 minutes start to finish.
Combine wine and spices in a pot
Add sugar to taste
Heat gently, do not boil
Simmer until fragrant and warm
Strain and serve
“Keep it at a bare, gentle steam and never let it boil, because boiling cooks off the alcohol and can turn the wine bitter. A slow warm-through is all it needs to draw the spices into the wine, then strain before serving so no one gets a mouthful of clove.”
