The Preparation
Rim a rocks glass with cinnamon sugar: run a lime wedge around the edge, press into a plate of cinnamon sugar.
Drizzle dulce de leche inside the glass in a swirl pattern.
In a cocktail shaker, combine aged rum, Kahlúa, dulce de leche, and heavy cream.
Add ice and shake vigorously for 12-15 seconds until well chilled and the dulce de leche is fully incorporated.
Strain into the prepared glass over fresh ice.
Optional: float a small drizzle of dulce de leche on top.
The Chef's Notes
The dulce de leche needs a hard shake to fully dissolve — don't be gentle. If it's too thick, warm it for 10 seconds in the microwave before adding to the shaker.
